I can’t add a lot to this, other than to say that I, along with many other people who listen and follow Piper’s teachings, really need to meditate on Marcus‘ take on John Piper.
Excerpt:
I think the best thing about John Piper’s teaching is not that I learn a great deal about God from it (although I do), but it makes me want to spend my life for God’s glory among the nations, and it makes me want to be able to put Jesus Christ before people’s eyes in more clear and powerful ways than I am currently capable of. The value of great teachers is seen by the next generation whom they train and help, even more than it is seen in the content of the teaching itself.

As I’m browsing through the Inbox this morning, I come across and email from my post-WLS vitamin provider. I usually just delete them, as they tend to be sales ads or what have you. However, one of my loser friends, Beth, had mentioned something to me about vitamins recently. So I read over it — and it’s the headline that gets me…
A study just published in the May issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that the majority of gastric bypass patients cannot maintain their nutritional health on a basic multivitamin supplement.
Wait. What? You’re telling me that even though I’m taking my vitamin supplements, and have been for almost 3 years, I am still prone to malnutrition or nutritional deficiency? Now what? I’ve put in a phone call to my nutrition specialist and I’ve also requested the full text of this article — I’ve yet to get a response from either one.

I really don’t have that much interest in television. Seriously. You can count the number of shows that I watch on one hand. One of those shows, over the past few years, has been American Idol. Well, after last night’s “boxing” schtick and tonight’s season finale, something happened. I’ll keep it simple.

That’s all. Rest in peace, Idol.
